The doorbell rang twice before Dot managed to get to the door pulling it open.
Seeing a man in a black suit that she didn’t know confused her. She thought she’d locked the gate. “Hello, may I help you?”

“Dorothea Bongiovi?”

“Yes?”

Ok, who is this guy, and do I need to defend myself and the kids. She dropped back just a hair to prepare to do just that. He reached into his coat pocket taking out an envelope. “I have something for you.”

Handing it to her he waited while she opened it to read.

My parents are in the back of the car, I brought clothes with me for you when I left, please tell the kids we love them and jump in the car and come to me, and spend the lover’s holiday with your love, your man, your husband.

“Can you go tell my in-laws to come in, I’ll be right out.”Dot smiled as she turned around to find all of her kids. Within minutes she had hugged and kissed all the kids, grabbed her coat, and hugged her in-laws in passing, walking the 20 steps to slide into the open back door of the limo. The driver closed the door and stepped up to drive away.

Once inside a private charter jet she heard from the cockpit, “Mrs. Bongiovi, you are free to move around if you’d like. There is a box in the overhead compartment for you.”

Dot smiled undoing her seat belt she stood up grabbing the box out of the compartment. Opening it as she sat down she smiled, a pink iPod, putting the headset on she turned it on pushing play.

“Hey baby, I love you. I’m so happy you’re on your way to me, I’ve missed you, this sleeping alone in a king-size bed sucks, I need your arms around me and I think I’m going to get us a twin size bed just so you have to be right next to me all night.” The speaking stopped for his infectious laughter.

“Na on second thought that won’t work, I need room to roll around and love you all night long. In case no one told you, you’re on your way to Hawaii. I know you think I’m in Seattle today, so does the world actually, we left the stage set up there, we didn't transport it to Hawaii just using a runner stage
there. But you won’t be flying to the big island, I have a private getaway planned for us, so sit back, relax, and listen to all your favorite songs. The playlist is Valentine, but let them play in order ok, no shuffle I have my reasons.” Another laugh that she loved so much, “I love you Dot more than anything in this world, I love you for being my rock, being my anchor, for being my best friend. I love you for never letting this world I live in mean more than it should; I love you for marrying me and making our wonderful
kids with me. Can’t wait to see you darlin’ talk to you soon.”

She smiled leaning the seat back and letting the music take her to her Zen place. Music has always had a calming influence on her but it’s never been as important to her as to Jon. He knew her weaknesses though some of her all-time favorite sappy songs were in the playlist. Air Supply, Elvis Costello, REO Speedwagon, Jon had included all sorts of sappy love songs.

Finally, about 3 hours into the flight she heard Jon’s voice again.
“You should be closer to me now honey, I’m thinking your somewhere over Nevada. When I was putting this playlist together I couldn’t help but reference our time in this wonderful state.” Jon sang the two lines of the song before coming back to speak to her.

Going to the chapel,

“We did it, April 29, 1989, that was the best day of my life, it still is, without that day we’d have no kids so I cherish our wedding, I know it wasn’t romantic and all gushy but I think it was us, babe. I hope you know how much you mean to me, how much of an inspiration you are in my world.”

With that Dot heard a piano start the beginnings to a familiar song and the luxury of hearing Jon sing something, he didn't write.

The song then changed to something else she knew. While relaxing she looked inside the box again seeing a new set of lingerie, black. That was different he’s been into colors lately but oh well.

She got up moving to the back of the plane behind a curtain so she could change into the bra and panties he gave her.
“Mrs. Bongiovi, if you could please fasten your seatbelt we’ll be landing in LA to refuel and leave again.” The captain announced and she listened to him.

The stops of the plane didn’t faze her, she’d done this too many years with Jon. She didn’t even open her eyes while everything went on around her.

It was an hour after the 2nd takeoff of the day before she heard Jon’s voice again in the playlist.

“Are you ready for me angel? Are you ready to be wrapped in your husband’s arms? Are you ready for me to kiss that spot? You know the one, on your left side, right where your collarbone meets your clavicle; you know that little indentation that the tip of my tongue teases so well. The music began again making Dot exhale, cross and uncross her legs, damn that man he knows how to tease.

About twenty minutes before landing Jon’s voice once again could be heard in the iPod.

“Well baby you should be almost to me by now, you might not hear this message if you stopped the iPod on the ground in LA but I’m hoping you didn’t. I know you well enough to know that you changed into the lingerie I had in the box for you and I love that. This tour is going to be long; it’s going to be hard for us to keep everything fresh in our relationship with me going for weeks on end that seem to be getting harder and harder every time we start a tour. That’s why I had to have Valentine’s Day alone with my love. You’re going to be landing on the island of Kauai; there will be a limo at the airport to bring you to me. I can’t wait baby to hold you again, to love you again, and to remind you exactly why we are the only perfect match for each other. I’ll see you

She smiled, her husband, after so many years was so romantic and giving to her. He knew she wasn’t happy about him going on to the road again. She told him to go away often, hell even when she told him to go away she only meant for him to go to
the studio so when he turned around and did something like this for her she was reminded why she loves him so much and that she’d do anything for him and his
love. As she stepped off the plane and into the limo she laughed to herself when she saw the dozen long stem red roses on the seat next to her.

The drive to her husband lasted only 2 songs, Thank You for Loving Me and Diamond Ring. She had to laugh toying with the roses; she had a damn good life.

As the car came to a stop she stepped out to a site that was straight out of the best of all romantic fantasy’s a woman can have. The sun was just starting to set over the mountains on Valentine’s Day in Hawaii. The man she’s loved for the better part of her life was standing in front of a private cabana for them on the beach. A four-piece band stood behind Jon, piano, guitar, and violin. None of the players she knew thankfully.

Jon walked up to her gently pulling the iPod headsets from her ears. “I love you Mrs. Jon Bongiovi. Happy Valentine’s Day.” With that, his lips found hers in the tenderest kiss he’s ever given her. While the band started to play. Pulling back only enough to
hold her in his arms to dance he sang the words softly in her ear
